The Marches NVQ assessment funding explained

Who is eligible for the funding?

Anyone who lives or works in and around The Marches area and who has at least 3 years’ experience in their trade could qualify for a funded level 2 NVQ assessment. This means that whether you are a sole trader or a company, as long as you live or work in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin or Herefordshire you, or your employees, could be eligible.

What courses are available?

The funding applies to level 2 construction NVQ assessments in trades such as bricklaying, tiling, joinery, groundwork, passive fire protection and plastering to name but a few. Check out our full course catalogue here to see if your trade is listed.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment will be made via one of two routes depending upon your level of experience within your chosen trade.

For those with a minimum of 3-4 years experience, assessment will take the form of On Site Assessment and Training (OSAT). If you have 5 or more years experience, you follow the Experienced Worker Practical Assessment (EWPA) route.

Whatever assessment method you choose, all NWSA learners will be fully supported throughout their course and have access to our learner support services.

Why do I need an NVQ level 2?

An NVQ level 2 is your gateway to CSCS compliance. Upon successful completion of your level 2 assessment you will be able to apply for your blue skilled worker CSCS card. With more and more sites and clients now requesting that workers have a valid CSCS card, getting your level 2 NVQ is vital to your career growth.

Is it really fully funded?

Yes – it really is! You can achieve an NVQ level 2 in your trade with NWSA at no cost to you or your employer.
