Level 2 NVQ

Remember. There Is Funding Available For All Level 2 NVQ's At North West Skills Academy

Overview

The Level 2 Joinery and site carpentry qualification has been developed for achievement in a real workplace environment which means you need to be employed to undertake this qualification. This qualification enables you, the learner, to demonstrate and recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding and to demonstrate your competence in a real workplace environment so you can work as a Site Carpenter within the construction industry.

You will be assessed against a set of performance and knowledge statements which have been derived from National Occupational Standards for your occupational area. You will be assessed by an occupationally competent and qualified assessor whose job is to work with you and help you complete your qualification.

Assessment Process

EWPA (Experienced Worker Professional Assessment)

The Experienced Worker Practical Assessment (EWPA) route was introduced to provide an alternative to the traditional OSAT method of portfolio building and on site assessment. It is used to assess experienced learners who would prefer to demonstrate their competence using a one-off practical assessment.

If you decide to take the EWPA route the first thing we will do is introduce you to an assessor, you can do this at one of our training centres or at your worksite or company premises. You will discuss your past experience and your job role. The assessor will also explain to you about the qualification and what will be expected of you. You will fill in your registration and induction documents and a date will be arranged for your practical assessment.

you will be expected to gather witness testimonies and endorsements from your employer to verify your experience and competence. These forms will be sent by post to your employer to complete.

You will then arrange a day to visit one of our assessment centres to carry out your practical assessment. The assessment will be taken under test conditions and will test your abilities and competency in your trade
