Demonstrate Your Experience with a 1 Day assessment

EWPAs were introduced as an alternative assessment for experienced workers to gain Level 2 NVQs . It is designed to test the practical competence and underpinning knowledge of Learners across the full range of competencies.

Experienced Learners who would prefer to demonstrate their competence using a one-off practical assessment as opposed to the current method of observation on site combined with portfolio building can apply for EWPA. This method is not being introduced to replace existing assessment methods, but instead, to offer an alternative.

What Does EWPA Involve?

EWPA combines the use of witness testimonies, employer endorsement, practical assessment, professional discussion and questions and answers. It is designed for use with experienced workers. Suitable applicants will have completed profiling, which will have identified they have adequate experience and no upskilling training is required. In craft occupations, it is expected that a Learner should have the necessary experience in the occupation, enabling sufficient time to gain experience across the range of work.

EWPA Assessment Method

This assessment method has been designed to assess a Learner’s ability to demonstrate the skill and knowledge required for a Level 2 qualification. This will include:

  • planning work
  • working efficiently
  • working to recognised industrial tolerances
  • working productively
  • working safely
